Tory Burch becomes the official outfitter of Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas

Tory Burch has been announced the official outfitter of the Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas, the women’s World Cup of Tennis and the largest annual international team event in women’s sports. Overnight, tennis icon Billie Jean King joined Tory Burch on stage at the Tory Burch Foundation’s third Embrace Ambition summit to discuss women’s empowerment, King’s career, and the new partnership.

Burch will design a winner’s jacket for the world champions and their teams, and there will be opportunities to design pieces for the ball kids and other on-court officials. Her collection will be unveiled at the next Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Glasgow, Scotland, on November 8th-13th.

“This is a 21st century partnership for the women’s World Cup of Tennis that embraces ambition and focuses on advancing equality around the globe using tennis to make a difference in the lives of others,” says Billie Jean King.

“I am in awe of Billie. What she means to young women is hard to describe,” adds Tory Burch. “I’m thrilled for our partnership. Personally, I’m really excited to design the winner’s jackets. I think about those green jackets they give men at the Masters (golf), and I want to make something as iconic for world champion women athletes.”

The Tory Burch Foundation will also become the non-profit partner of the Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas. In collaboration with King and the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the Foundation will lead a program that advances women in sports and gender equality, launching in 2023.

The Foundation, which launched in 2009, provides women entrepreneurs with access to capital, education and digital resources. Through its Embrace Ambition global initiative, it encourages women everywhere to own their power, their drive, and their dreams. The Foundation’s signature Embrace Ambition summit takes place every two years and features presentations and conversations with activists, writers, athletes, politicians, and thought leaders on the most pressing issues facing women and marginalised people today.

The Billie Jean King Cup is managed and run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the world governing body of tennis. The ITF reinvests over 90 per cent of world cup revenue into the development of women’s tennis at grassroots level through its 210 National Tennis Federation members and in countries where support is most needed.

The partnership forms a key part of the ITF’s Advantage All programme. The goal of Advantage All is to develop and maintain tennis as an equal advantage sport. Through Advantage All, the ITF is committed to improving gender equality in all areas of the game to ensure tennis is a leading light in sport and society, while empowering, inspiring and enabling women and girls to reach their full potential.
