Spanish artist, Miguel Soro, will display a collection of his bicycle racing works during the UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Wollongong, September 18–25, in the Chasing Rainbows exhibition at the Sage Hotel.

The exhibition includes more than 25 original collage artworks depicting heroes of cycling, both Australian and international, and offers a unique view that not only captures the great aspirations and commitment of the protagonists, but also reflects the contrast between the kaleidoscopic microcosm of the pro racer and the expansive open spaces in which road cycling takes place.

A former professional cyclist himself, Soro (46) has exhibited all over the world, and was honored to show his work in both the centenary celebration of Fausto Coppi in Italy and during the Tour de France. This is his first exhibition in Australia.

Miguel Soro, says he has gained insights to his work by observing the public response. “It is mainly focused on the cycling public, but I see that it also engages non-fans of this sport, even those who don’t like it. For me, it us a huge honor to bring my work to show the Australian public during this international cycling event”.
Miguel Soro will be present in person throughout the week and available to sign original artworks as well as limited edition fine art prints.

Mark Sleigh, general manager of Destination Wollongong, said, “We are delighted to be welcoming Chasing Rainbows to Wollongong as part of the 2022 UCI Road World Championships. Art and culture are an important part of the fabric of Wollongong and having a world class art exhibition as part of the largest sporting event we have ever hosted is the perfect fit for the city. We look forward to welcoming Miguel and Chasing Rainbows to Wollongong and giving the community the opportunity to experience world class art as part of the delivery of our Olympic moment on the international stage”.

The Chasing Rainbows exhibition is proud to have the City of Wollongong, Sage Hotel,
AUS Cycling and Jonny Mole as official partners.

“Sage Hotel is very honored and privileged to be able to showcase Miguel Soro Garcia’s artwork during the 2022 UCI Road Cycling World Championships. It is an exciting time for Wollongong and especially Sage Hotel. We look forward to welcoming everyone from around the world to the hotel to experience this incredible exhibition”, commented Mark Upton, general manager Sage Hotel Wollongong.

The Sage Hotel, 60-62 Harbour Street, is located close to the finish line of the UCI World Championships, and admission to Chasing Rainbows is free. The exhibition is organised by Oakbrew SWISS SAGL.
