Post-Thrash Metal project Primatron releases the powerful and progressive new single “One More Usurper”
“Locomotive” is the new single from Primatron, a metal project from Curitiba whose sound is not limited to just one style or subgenre, but flows naturally between industrial metal and nuances of extreme metal – all that while being a project that always aims to create music with an atmosphere that reflects the distressing climate of living in a time of constant crisis. That’s the spirit of Primatron, to make cathartic music that reflects the spirit of our times.
The new single “Locomotive” has a very strong cohesion between the different passages, in addition to being very aggressive and heavy. “As you get more practice in the studio, some aspects of recording become easier and one can focus on others. I think this is noticeable in the vocal melodies, in the complexity of the verse riffs, in the tempo changes… I think every musician believes that their most recent creation is their best up to that point, so I might be biased in saying that. But even so, I’ll say it, it’s the best song from the Primatron project so far. And I think it’s cool that this song shows that heaviness and aggression are in the riffs and don’t just depend on very low tunings”, says Diogo, creator of the project.
ABOUT PRIMATRON
The project started with some riffs that Diogo had already written some time ago, some of which had even been presented to other projects in which he participated, such as Machina Animata and Shadow Maze. During the pandemic, Diogo had time to work on more riffs, compose music and start crafting some lyrics. And in early 2022, when he already had some songs all but finished, he decided to start recording what later became the tracks for the EP “Night Falls Heavy”. All tracks are produced and recorded by Aly Fioren, guitarist for Brazilian bands Urvolk, Carttada, Sad Theory and owner of Funds House Studio.
The name Primatron came about while reading technology news in a newspaper. The interdependence between man and machine, which became increasingly clear as he recorded the EP, gave him the idea of thinking of a name that would reflect a certain angst with this process of becoming less and less autonomous in relation to technology.
