Teams announced for 2023 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Qualifiers
The 18 nations competing in the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Qualifiers have announced their teams for April’s ties, confirming the players who will compete to secure their country’s place at the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals.
The Qualifiers will take place on 14-15 April, with two singles matches on the first day of play (when each nation’s No. 1 singles player competes against the opposition’s No. 2 player), followed by two singles matches (No. 1 v No. 1 then No. 2 v No. 2) and a doubles match on the second day.
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will compete for Poland in an away tie against Kazakhstan, with four other Top 10 stars also set to represent their nations – Caroline Garcia (FRA), Coco Gauff (USA), Jessica Pegula (USA) and Elena Rybakina (KAZ).
Among the 84 players nominated are four Grand Slam singles champions (Bianca Andreescu (CAN), Barbora Krejcikova (CZE), Rybakina and Swiatek) and five other players who have reached at least one Grand Slam singles final – Danielle Collins (USA), Leylah Fernandez (CAN), Gauff, Madison Keys (USA) and Marketa Vondrousova (CZE).
The nine winning nations from the Qualifiers will join 2022 champions Switzerland and 2022 runners-up Australia at the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals on 7-12 November. The 12th nation competing at the Finals will be announced once the Finals host is confirmed.
The nine losing nations will compete in the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Play-offs on 10-11 November alongside the best-performing nations at the three 2023 regional Group I events, which also take place during the week commencing 10 April. Winning nations in the Play-offs will earn a place in next year’s Qualifiers.
All of the action can be followed via the English and Spanish versions of BillieJeanKingCup.com with live scoring available on the Billie Jean King Cup Live Centre. Live streaming of the Qualifiers will be available via the Billie Jean King Cup Video Platform.
