Today, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown have co-signed an open letter to US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Sunak, and Charles Michel, President of the European Council seeking support for the ongoing uprising in Iran, the blacklisting of the IRGC as a terrorist organization and to support the ten-point-plan of Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) for the future of Iran.
The letter is historic by gaining significant support of 120 former world leaders such as Jean-Claude Juncker, former President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, Former Prime Minister of Italy, Bernard Cazeneuve, Former Prime Minister of France, Yulia Tymoshenko, Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Liz Truss, Former Prime Minister, United Kingdom, and Mike Pence Former Vice President, United States.
The update of this letter is essential, since in recent weeks according to Le Monde, AFP and Reuters the Iranian regime’s diplomatic activities between Iran and the US has let to political pressures on the Iranian opposition NCRI.
This is while the letter asks to recognize the NCRI as a democratic coalition that constantly and tirelessly pursued democratic change for four decades.
