Bret Nybo’s new album “Life Revisited” is out in late 2022. Bret takes a serious personal overhaul on his first album. He sang again and played the entire record, as well as adding four new tracks. “Life Revisited” is actually a remake of Bret’s first album, “Life and Other Twisted Tales”.

Bret also likes Old Time Radio. He has a passion for not just music, but the stories they tell. As a result, Bret’s new release, “Life Revisited”, includes several Old Time Radio clips from whom he considers some of the greats, including Boris Karloff, Vincent Price and Peter Lorre.

As a result, their music falls somewhere between classic and experimental rock. According to Bret, he writes music with one foot planted in the classic rock era and the other planted in the sounds of today.

Born March 12, 1964, Bret Nybo is an artist who officially enters the music scene in 2021. Bret has always enjoyed writing and producing music, as a result, Bret transcends his musical journey by creating not just an album, but also a story of adventure about life.

In this new interview, we talk to the musician about his new release, inspiration, musical influences and future plans. Check it out below:

What can you say about this new release the album “Life Reveisited”? “Life Reveisited” is a step up from “Life and Other Twisted Tales”. It’s literally a reproduction. I learned so much in a short period of time that I wanted to go back and make my first album better before moving on. I also added four new tracks in the process. It’s a concept album about a person in a coma (me…but I was never there). During this time he reflects on his life, while at the same time being “chased” or haunted by a demon. It all comes to a head in the song “Wolves and Sheep”. I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m a huge fan of Old Time Radio. As a result, I used clips from various shows to help tell the story.

How was the recording process for the album? I really like this process. I’m a big fan of learning, and working in the studio is good exercise for both the left and right brain. Working in the studio will definitely keep you sharp on all fronts. I also really enjoy collaborating with other artists and attracting talent from wherever I can. I’m a big fan of one band in particular, “The Misanthropes”. They appear on the track “Hit and Miss”.

If you had to choose a song, which one would you choose? That’s a tough question. I would probably go with “A Journey of Sorts”. It’s a 13-minute song, so there you go. Interesting note: I actually selected three Spotify playlists. One such list, “Lucky 7 Minutes Plus”, actually has this song. In fact, I make it a goal to include at least one 7-minute song on every album I break, just so I can throw it on my seven-minute-plus playlist.

What is your favorite band? Now this is a very difficult question. I suppose if you put a gun to my head and make me choose, I’ll choose “Pink Floyd”.

Who or what inspires you to write songs? Honestly, I like to share my work with other people. My personal taste in music varies a lot, so I’m finding it fun to put things out there and see what people like. Turns out “Disco’s Not Dead” was the winner this time around. I was excited to see the Tik Tok dances and Instagram reels start to pop with the release of that particular song. It also inspires me about the direction I lean in on future projects. I’m interested in making a connection with others and how they voted for “Disco’s Not Dead” through the audience… I’ll keep that in mind for future releases. You’ll likely see livelier, funnier music coming out as a result.

Can you give us a tip of great rock bands from your country? As mentioned earlier, I really like “The Misanthropes”. They are a fairly new band with a great sound. Some other American bands I like are “Mr. Big”, “Styx”, “Boston” and “Van Halen”. Those are all bands I grew up with. Honestly though, I feel like Europe has the market corner of the biggest bands, but the US has released some that I really like.

Is there new material coming soon? What can we expect? I happen to be releasing a single on February 10th. I wanted it for Valentine’s Day. It’s my first official cover song and I think it turned out really well. I’m not very good at making love songs. This is as close as I can get. It has to be upbeat and fun for me. So I recorded the song “Jungle Love” by Steve Miller. Barring any complications, it will be released on February 10, 2023. Keep an eye out. I had a lot of fun with this one.
