An art intervention by Klaus Littmann

We are pleased to announce that the installation Arena for a Tree by Klaus Littmann will be unveiled in Venice for the opening of the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Arsenale Nord, the temporary installation stands as an ark with a single protagonist at its center: the tree. Arena for a Tree is a traveling art installation that highlights the themes of nature, sustainability, and climate change. Venice is its third and final destination – and the first to include water as another critical environmental element.
Through the presentation of living trees in iconic urban locations, the artwork invites the public to reflect on the crucial role of trees in the global ecosystem and the need to protect them. Created in collaboration with the Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger and with the support of ECC Italy, Arena for a Tree offers a unique and engaging experience that combines art, architecture, and environmental awareness.

ARENA FOR A TREE (Arena per un albero)
Un intervento artistico di Klaus Littmann
L’installazione Arena for a Tree (Arena per un albero) di Klaus Littmann sarà presentata a Venezia per la prima volta. In concomitanza con l’apertura della 60. Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte – La Biennale di Venezia, Arena for a Tree si propone di trasmettere un messaggio importante sul riscaldamento globale e la sostenibilità.
Incastonata sullo sfondo dello storico Arsenale Nord, l’installazione temporanea si erge come un’arca con un unico protagonista al suo centro: l’albero. Da lontano, Arena for a Tree sembra una capsula di seme germogliante. Da vicino, è scultura, architettura e podio allo stesso tempo: la tribuna offre tre file di posti a sedere e può ospitare 50 persone alla volta, creando un’esperienza intima e una vista ideale degli alberi viventi le cui radici sono immerse in una vasca d’acqua.
Attraverso la presentazione di alberi viventi in luoghi urbani iconici, l’opera invita il pubblico a riflettere sul ruolo cruciale degli alberi nell’ecosistema globale e sulla necessità di proteggerli. Realizzata in collaborazione con la Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger e con il supporto di ECC Italia, Arena for a Tree offre un’esperienza unica e coinvolgente che unisce arte, architettura e consapevolezza ambientale.
